Work has begun on downtown tower in Clearwater

Construction has begun on the Station Square building on Cleveland Street.

CLEARWATER – Construction is under way on the new 15-story residential “Station Square” building. When complete, the tower at 628 Cleveland St. is planned to feature a ground-floor upscale restaurant and boutique shops.

“Station Square is just the ticket for an area quickly emerging as one of the top destinations in the country,” said Felix Amon, chief executive officer of Amon Investments, which is funding the project.

“Station Square will provide a new, exciting address in Clearwater for permanent and seasonal residents from all over the world who will continue to enjoy the best of both coastal and city living,” Buzzell said. She calls the new tower an example of “coastal urban” living.

Buzzell explained that “coastal urban” development will put homes in a convenient, downtown setting only a short walk to beaches.

Nearly 80 of the new building’s 126 condominium units have already been sold, Buzzell said.

“When all other Florida sales seemed to be off the pace, we continued to focus on national and international markets and it paid off,” Buzzell said. Sales have been made in England, Ireland, South America and throughout the U.S., the manager said.

Construction began Dec. 14 by Biltmore Construction of Belleair. The building will feature a Mediterranean-style of architecture, Amon said. It will include a variety of residential floor plans at prices ranging from $350,000 to $700,000. There will be penthouse residences available for from $900,000 to $1.4 million apiece.

A rooftop pool and lounge deck will overlook the redeveloped Downtown Clearwater said Amon, who is a member of a redevelopment board in his hometown of Daytona Beach.

Amon said he is committed to creating “safe, beautiful communities with distinct architectural significance.”

“I envision Station Square complimenting Clearwater’s beautification efforts to make downtown Clearwater an attractive location to live, work and play,” Amon said.
